What we keep
Nothing you type into the letter tools. Your letters are written in your own browser and never sent to us. The one exception is a message you choose to send us through the share form.
What we never collect
- Your name, your email, or an account of any kind. There are no accounts.
- Your student's name, or anything you write about what happened.
- Your school or your district. The school search runs on your device, from a public state list it downloads.
- The letters you write. They're built on your device and printed or copied by you.
- Advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies of any kind.
How the letter tools work
- Nothing is saved. What you type stays on the page while it's open. Close the tab or leave the site, and it's gone. Print or save your PDF before you go.
- Nothing is sent. Writing the letter, checking your writing, and searching for your school all happen in your browser.
- Nothing to delete. Because we never had it.
- Your own answers file, if you want one. The tools can download a small file of your answers to your own device, so you don't have to retype them next time. It goes where you save it, never to us. It has your student's name in it, so keep it as private as your letters.
Checking your writing
"Check my writing" looks over what you wrote for labels, guesses, and missing details, and suggests sentence starters. It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you write is sent to us, or to any AI service. It never changes your words; you decide what to fix.
On a school computer or school email
School devices, networks, and email accounts can be monitored by your district. If that concerns you, use your own phone on your own data plan. Nothing on this site requires a school account.
Where the site is hosted
The site is a set of plain pages on a hosting service in the United States. Like any website, the host's network sees a connection when you visit. We don't run analytics, and there's nothing you type for anyone to keep.
If you send us a message
The share form is the only place on this site that sends anything, and only when you press Send.
- What we keep: your message, the choices you make on the form, and your email address if you give one. We don't keep your IP address or anything else about your device with it.
- Who reads it: the people who run this site. Nothing is published automatically.
- Stories: shared on this site only if you say yes, and only after we edit out anything that could identify anyone.
- Your email: used only to answer you, then deleted.
For how to document a removal without putting confidential student information at risk, see Student privacy and FERPA.
